"The bucket bag trend is till going strong for Fall" yep, that's according to the Zoe Report. I love bucket bags. Way back the 80s and early 90s I remember seeing drawstring bucket bags everywhere and I coveted them. Back then "the bag" was the Dooney and Bourke drawstring bucket and there was no way my mom was buying my little girl self one of those!
Well, I'm all grown up and I bought my first drawstring bucket bag this Fall. It's a Mansur Gavriel which I picked after careful consideration. What I love about the bag are it's classic lines and style, size, and the tanning process involved. The leather for my bag was tanned using the vegetable tanning process. From my understanding vegetable tanning is better for the environment than chemical tanning. Also, for historically minded me, I was glad to learn it's the traditional way to tan leather and humans have been doing it for thousands of years. Vegetable tanned leather is also more supple than the chemically tanned and it gives off the "leather" smell which many people enjoy. Drawbacks are that it's more prone to scratches and marks, but for me that's not really an issue because I think it just gives the bag patina. I love patina!
The Masur Gavriel bucket bag comes in a large size and a mini size. Mine is the large size. It also comes in a variety of interior colors and exterior colors. Mine is black with a gold interior.
If you get one let me know! I'd love to hear which interior color you picked and if you love it!
