Style Diaries 12/12/23- Bow Aesthetic

The perfect Bow Shoes for Christmas!

Wrapped up with a bow!

Bow aesthetic is going to big for 2024!  This is a trend I plan on getting behind.  I’ve always had a love for bows.  As a girl I loved bows and wore them in my hair until I was probably 13.  In high school I was a cheerleader, which meant I got to keep wearing my big bows!  Eventually, I stopped wearing them because I felt like I had “aged out” of bow wearing.  Seeing this trend, and seeing so many women my age sporting bows has given me the confidence to bring back the bow!

What is “bow aesthetic”

“Aesthetic” refers to the appreciation of beauty and the principles that govern the creation of visually pleasing or harmonious experiences.  It’s a buzz word right now, with hundreds of different “aesthetics” you can adopt.  Just do a quick Pinterest search and I promise you, you will not be bored!  One of my favorite aesthetics is Cottagecore, in fact I’ve written several posts about it on this blog.  Here’s one I wrote on Cottagecore Dresses: Cottagecore Dresses 10 Designers/Brands You Can Shop Online

When applied to the term “bow aesthetic,” it typically involves the visual appeal and design aspects of bows, which can be found in various contexts such as fashion, art, or even archery. The bow aesthetic encompasses the interplay of form, color, texture, and overall design to evoke a sense of visual delight or satisfaction. Whether it’s a gracefully tied ribbon on a gift, or a fashionable bow embellishment on clothing, the bow aesthetic often embodies a balance between elegance, symmetry, and creativity. It serves as a visual language that communicates a certain style or mood, adding a touch of charm and sophistication to the objects or spaces it adorns.  I think that’s why I love bows so much; they are elegant and fun at the same time!

I decided to dip my toe into the waters of the bow aesthetic with these red bow shoes.  I thought loved how they are playful and elegant at the same time!  I paired them with my new Nap Dress from Hill House.  I could (and probably should) write an entire blog post about this dress.  Let me just say- it is one of the most comfortable and flattering dresses I’ve ever worn.
