Coffee Table Books- What’s on my Table

coffee table booksIt’s mid winter and for many of us it’s cold outside, add in COVID and the result is that most of us are tucked up inside (maybe more than usual).  I’ve been doing a lot of reading, tv watching, and of course blogging.  I thought I would share with you what I’ve been consuming.  I’m always a fan of anything in the historical fiction category and I’ve recently been inspired to update my coffee table with historical subjects.

Books on my Nightstand

On my nightstand are 3 books; 1. The Federalist Papers 2. The Lost Queen 3. The Bastard (first book in the Kent Chronicles series).   I have to admit I haven’t made it very far into The Federalist Papers.  The Lost Queen is great, it’s the first book in a trilogy.  It’s based on real tribal queen in Scotland during the 6th century CE.  At this time Britain is transitioning out of the Roman period and experiencing the Anglo-Saxon invasions.  It’s a super interesting and often overlooked time period in English history.  The Bastard was given to me by a co-worker who also loves historical fiction.  I’m excited to dig into this book, which takes place in America at the beginning of the American Revolution.

Books on my Coffee Table

On my coffee table are three new books, The Atlas of Native American Tribes, A History of the World, and Archaeology- Discovering the World’s Secrets.  My boys have already flipped through Archaeology and asked lots of questions.  I’m hoping that my boys will pick up one of the books from time to time and learn something.

coffee table books

If you are looking to update your coffee table books.  They make great gifts, who wouldn’t want one of these beauties for Valentine’s Day.  I’ve curated a list of beautiful and (bonus) informative books.  They are all cultural in nature; art, fashion, design, history, etc..
