How to Recreate Jackie O’s Signature Summer Style

Jackie Kennedy Onassis is obviously a huge fashion icon and inspiration for many, myself included.  I particularly love her summer style, it was just.. so.. Florida.  Her embrace of Jack Rogers sandals and shift dresses, often by Lilly Pulitzer would go on to inspire sorority girls of the Sunshine State to emulate this look for generations, myself included!  Right up to today, the mix of Jack Rogers and shift dresses is common on the streets of Florida and the East coast.  If you’re a Florida girl you know what I’m talking about!  This preppy yet beachy style is classic and always looks chic- without much effort!

Me doing my best Jackie Kennedy impression. My dress is Lilly, sandals are Jack Rogers, hat is Anthropologie, and cork purse is from Madeira (my mom got it for me on vacation).

If you want to re-create Jackie’s signature summer style here’s what you’ll need.

The basics are a shift dress and the correct sandals.

  1. A red and white shift dress
  2. A pair of white Jack Rodgers sandals

Next, let’s add some accessories!

  1. A straw bag
  2. A straw hat
  3. Gold Oyster Shell Pendant Necklace

Voila, you are now ready for the coast in this simple, chic, and classic Jackie Kennedy look.  What coast?  Doesn’t really matter, this look is timeless and location transcendent!

    1. She is a fun one to recreate! I did a bathing suit recreation of hers a few years ago. I should re-post it. Anyway, it was a black bathing suit with a hat and a chunky tortoise necklace. It was from the 1960s and still looked so chic.
